How to Access eResources/Courseware
What is an eResource/Courseware?
An eResource is an additional resource that accompanies an e-textbook such as a website (i.e., Cengage MindTap, Pearson MyLabs, etc.)
How do you access an eResource (access code)?
When a book has an accompanying eResource, you will access this through the online VitalSource Bookshelf® platform. The new Bookshelf platform allows you to access your eResource / Courseware code in multiple places. Below are the examples help you!
- Log into Bookshelf Online.
- If the book is showing under Recent Activity you can click on the 3 dots located on the top right of your book. Note: If your material contains an access code, it will show Access Code next to the book cover (see below)
- If the book is not showing under recent activity, please click on "My Library" - you will see the book title and 3 dots. You can also see that it will state Access Code under the book cover. (see below in screenshot)
- No matter where you click the 3 dots that are near your book cover (Recent Activity or My Library) - by clicking on them, you will get a drop-down box with the option to access code instructions
| RECENT ACTIVITY | MY LIBRARY |
5. After you click on Access code instructions - you will get a pop up in the middle of your screen showing you 3 steps:
- Confirm you have the correct item for your course (the VBID / ISBN will show)
- Reveal and copy the access code. (Once you reveal a code, the e-textbook is no longer returnable)
- Note: If the code says Already Revealed in resources, review your LMS for a link, as it should be code-less delivery
- Visit the publisher or third-party website to redeem your access code and start using your materials.*
- A Course Key may also be required; this may be found on a receipt or obtained from an instructor.
Please note:
The eResource (access codes) comes directly from the publisher and must be redeemed on their specific site (normally the publisher's website). We encourage you to reach out directly to the publisher support page of the material for questions dealing with the access code redemption on their site.
